what is hyrox

Hyrox is a global fitness competition that combines running with functional workouts, designed to challenge athletes of all fitness levels. The event is known for its structured format and unique combination of endurance, strength, and mental toughness. It's often described as a "fitness race" because it tests both cardiovascular endurance and functional strength, making it accessible to everyone from beginners to elite athletes.


The Hyrox course consists of 8 workout stations, each followed by a 1km run. The stations include a variety of functional exercises such as;

 
Ski Erg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps

Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Walking Lunges, Wall Balls
 

Each participant runs 1 kilometre between every workout station. The total distance covered in the race is 8 kilometres (8 x 1 km runs). The combination of running and strength exercises makes it a full-body endurance test.

 Hyrox is open to all fitness levels, with several categories to cater to a range of abilities: 


Men's/ Women's -Singles

Doubles

Mixed Doubles

Relay (Team Of Four) 


There is also two different divisions to choose from:


Open or Elite


The Elite division use heavier sled weights, farmers carry, sandbag walking lunges and wall balls



Competitors are timed from start to finish, with the goal of completing the event as quickly as possible. The emphasis is on both speed and efficiency, as athletes need to balance fast running times with effective completion of the workout stations.



Hyrox events take place around the world, with races held in cities across Europe, North America, and beyond. The event has grown into a global community of fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and competitors.
